EXPERIENCE

DESIGN

Being a designer is a core part of my personality. From a young age I've always been interested in visual media and communication. I graduated from Washington University in St. Louis in 2020 where I received my BA in Architecture but I couldn't get myself out of the Communication Design studio and electives—so I decided to pivot!

Post-grad, I've been working at IBM in Austin, Texas, as a Visual and UX Designer. In addition, I also freelance and attend to some personal projects on the side for fun.

If you asked me what some of my favorite elements are in the world of design I'd have to say grids, data visualization, and typography. The list could get longer but I'll save you the reading.

PHOTO

As long as I can remember I've had a camera in my hand. As a child, my parents were frequently picking up disposable cameras for me to take on field trips, to family events, or to have. There has always been a deep obsession with documentation.

A few hardships when I was younger shaped my relationship with photography. I grew up watching my paternal grandmother suffer with Alzheimer's. This had a major impact on me and my desire to take photographs. If not for my own record keeping, at least for the loved ones in my life. Additionally, I'm pretty severely visually impaired in my left eye. Fingers crossed the right one keeps working!

Despite this deep love for the medium, I wouldn't take a formal photography course until after my Junior year of high school (2014 if you are curious). I went many years self-taught thanks to the internet and poor funding for art programs in public schools. All of these factors, along with a handful of others, have influenced my personal style and what I like to shoot. If I had to describe my style in one word I think I'd use documentary, but I'm interested in what you think.

ART

While there is no formal "art" section on this site maybe there will be some day! For now, you can see my art sprinkled through a lot of my design works in the form of collages, drawings, poetry, and prose.

If something particularly piques your interest or you want to see more I'd be happy to spend some time digitizing my archives or digging up some old pieces I've written.
