Following my high school graduation from Culver Academies in 2015, I participated in a gap year program through English Speaking Union's Secondary School Exchange. For the 2015-16 academic year, instead of starting my Freshman year of university, I opted to go back and attend my first year of Sixth Form at St. Felix School in Southwold, Suffolk, UK.

Over the course of the year I made some incredible friends and wonderful memories. This was such a unique and special experience so I wanted to document it well. I knew it would be a while until I would be able to afford to return to Europe (as of writing this in 2024 I have yet to return, but have flights booked so stay tuned for a new round of photographs this summer).

You'll see photos from a variety of cities and places in Europe here including, but not limited to: London, Paris, Brussels, and Amsterdam. I was in Paris shortly after the November 2015 terrorist attacks and in Brussels while the culprits for the 2016 bombings were still at large. You can see some of the community response from these tragic events reflected in a few of the photos. It was a bit anxiety-inducing traveling alone at 19 while all this unfolded, but I felt compelled to capture what I could respectfully.
